Eco-Markádia
Markádia was inaugurated in January 1987, based on the idea of creating tourist facilities of good quality, attracting the natural and cultural richness of Alentejo. At the time there was practically no type of tourism exploration in the area and it took courage and determination to develop this pioneering project. It was then created the Markádia Tourist Complex. The campsite and the lodgings, the restaurants, the mini-market were developed and we provided the first swimming pool in the vicinity, the first tennis courts as well as canoes and seagulls for navigation in the reservoir. We have divulged our place in Alentejo since then, attracting domestic and foreign tourists convincing them to enjoy this paradisiacal place with the aim of sharing and preserving it. Finally, but very satisfied, twenty years later, in 2007 the Albufeira de Odivelas and its environs was declared, by the Council of Ministers, as National Ecological Reserve in which we are inserted.
